Unfold alternatives for iPhone (2026)
Unfold is great for story templates, but it isn't the only option. Compare Mojo, Canva, Adobe Express, Made and layrd for posts, Stories and Reels.

Unfold is one of the best known template apps for Instagram Stories and posts. If you want a different style, a different price or a different kind of tool, there are good alternatives. Here is what Unfold offers, and how five other iPhone apps compare in 2026.
Full disclosure: we make layrd, one of the alternatives. Facts about the other apps come from their App Store listings, with ratings as shown on October 23, 2026.
What Unfold is good at
Unfold, made by Squarespace, is a template-led creative app. Its listing describes templates for Instagram Stories, posts and Reels, plus TikTok, Pinterest and other platforms, along with fonts, filters, royalty-free music and a bio-site builder. It has more than 158,000 ratings and a 4.9 average.
The listing describes three plans: a free version with a sample collection of templates (with a watermark), Unfold+ with 400+ templates and no watermark, and Unfold Pro, which adds a Brand Kit.
Reasons to look at other apps:
- Price. The full template set sits behind a subscription.
- A different look. Unfold's minimalist, film-style templates are popular, which means they're also widely seen.
- Different jobs. If you want text behind your subject, camera details or a panorama carousel, Unfold isn't built for those.

1. layrd
Best for: one strong photo, finished well.
layrd isn't a story template library. It's an editor for the photo itself: text behind the subject, editorial frames, camera details from your photo, panorama splitting into seamless carousels, and animated text exported as MP4, GIF or APNG. If your feed is made of single photographs, that's where it's different from Unfold.
Worth knowing: iPhone and iPad only for now (Android is coming). It doesn't have Unfold's range of story and collage templates or a bio-site builder.
2. Mojo
Best for: video-first creators.
Mojo's listing describes more than 1,200 templates, trending-sound templates, auto captions, text effects, background removal and a brand kit, and it's built around Reels and TikTok video. It has more than 138,000 ratings.
3. Canva
Best for: people who need many kinds of design in one place.
Canva handles Stories, posts, carousels, presentations and print, with a huge template library. It's less photography-focused than Unfold but far more general. Some of its tools need Canva Pro.
4. Adobe Express
Best for: templates with Adobe's tools behind them.
Adobe Express offers templates, video editing, background removal, resizing for different channels and brand kits. It suits people who already use Adobe apps.
5. Made
Best for: quick photo stories from templates.
Made, from Instasize, is a story and collage maker with more than 200 photo templates. You pick a template, add your photos and text, and share.
